Goodbye 2013, Hello 2014

Dear 2013,
What a great year your really were. You actually were the best year of my life to date. Becoming a wife to my best friend was by far the highlight of the year for me.

Now that you are over it is time to say good bye.
Good bye wedding planning.
(for our wedding that is. one of my friends is getting married in September & I cannot wait to help)
Good riddance to making decisions about center pieces, song choices and no more massive postage purchases to USPS. Oh and even better good bye to hand cramps from addressing envelopes.

Good bye poor budgeting.
Throwing the biggest party of our lives in June really kicked any budgeting or money saving right out the window. We didn't really set a budget for our wedding and I found myself purchasing lots of little things that didn't end up getting used in the long run and other purchases that had to be made last minute that didn't allow us to find the cheaper price or wait for it to be on sale at Hobby Lobby, Thank God for those 40% off coupons. Even when all those last minute purchases were made after our wedding we were thrown into grocery shopping and making purchases on stuff for our house. Often I have found myself buying stuff we really do not need. These bad habits are staying in 2013, good bye!!!

Good bye unhealthy lifestyle.
2013 was full of yoyo dieting, on and off again relationships with the gym.
From February to June I was in pretty good shape but my dieting still sucked but by working out twice a day I was able to over ride all the drive-thru lunches and high calorie meals.
Then we said our "I Do"s and went on our honeymoon and I said a silent goodbye to the treadmill and elliptical. I haven't stepped foot back in the gym since June.
For about 3 months I struggled with learning to cook and we ordered lots of takeout and fast food.
Then in October I decided I was going to become a runner after getting sick, going to the Dr and weighing in at my highest weight yet. Last month I got on the scales and I am down 12 lbs which is a great feeling.
Even though I am on a roll I am leaving the on and off habits in the past.

It was an enjoyable ride 2013. So long and farewell!
Thanks for providing us with lots of unforgettable memories.
xoxo

Dear 2014,
Welcome. I cannot wait to see what you have to offer.
Please take your time and don't fly by.

Hello travel.
This year Anthony and I decided we are going to explore new places.
We are putting off big vacations in exchange for 3 day trips to places we have never been before.
To get the wanderlust bug fixed in February we have a trip to Niagara Falls planned.
Some other trips are going to include camping trips in and around Ohio and possibly some trips to Pennsylvania and maybe Tennessee and Kentucky.
We are also tossing around the idea of taking a mini big vaca at the end of the year and thinking about taking it during NYE where we can celebrate the end of the year and bring in the new year with a bang!

Hello 1/2 Marathon.
My biggest goal of 2014 is to run a 1/2 marathon.
This is probably going to physically be the hardest thing I have ever done.
I am very anxious to accomplish this goal and have those 13.1 miles under my feet.
I cannot wait to make more friendships in the running community and blog about this amazing feat I am about to partake in. It will be hard but I am ready for it!

Hello Dave Ramsey, budgeting and couponing.
I kissed our bad budgeting good bye and it is going to be left in the dust of 2013.
We are planning on getting help from Mr Dave Ramsey with this and with the help of some couponing tips I have hoping we can save a major chunk of moolah.
I definitely will be blogging about this adventure.

2014, let the adventures begin.

  1. Your going to kick a marathon’s ass! I just know it! :) I’m with you on the budgeting thing! I love your travel plans for 2014! My family has plans to go to Tenneesse in July which happens to be our anniversary so we might make a last minute trip down there depending on how work and budgeting is going. LOL. :) Here’s to a new year, new goals, and new habits! :)

    1. Thanks and last year I was in your same situation. I kicked butt and got myself to the gym now if only I would have kept on myself after tying the knot and I wouldn't have to be repeating this resolution!!! Happy Wedding Year by the way!!!

  4. Here's to a great new year! I haven't stepped into the gym since June (also my wedding month) and it shows! My trainer would be disappointed. :( I look forward to hearing about your marathon training! You'll do great!
