Sweater Weather Fall Tag

Tuesday, November 26, 2013

This weekend I was catching up on some of the youtube channels that I am subscribed to and came across a couple new followers and was inspired to do this little tag game..
Changing it to a blog post because I am not real sure I have the whole vlogging thing figured out just yet.
My goal for the new year is going to get more into vlogging.
We'll see how that goes.
Anyways there were 15 questions fall related and I am going to answer them over here on my blog today
1. Favorite Candle Scent?
this would definitely have to be Leaves from Bath and Body Works. I hadn't really had a chance to burn it while anyone was over to visit but last night we had a whole bunch of my family over for a Thanksgiving Pizza Party (something new we just did for the first time this year) and my Mom and Grandma were both asking what smelled so good. They loved it and I might be trying to get into B&BW before Black Friday to snag a couple more to take to our Christmas gift exchange and to have a couple extra because mine is starting to get empty.

2. Coffee, tea or hot chocolate?
I wish my answer to this one was coffee or tea but unfortunately the smell of either one makes me cringe let alone the second they touch my tongue, I look like a 2 year old trying something sour for the first time...So my answer is definitely hot chocolate. Add all the awesome fixin's to it and it has my name all over it!

3. Favorite Fall Childhood Memory?
Mine would be going to The Farm with my Grandpa Spiker for harvest time. He loved taking us Grandkids there and letting us run around the barns looking at all the animals or taking us to ride in the combines with Charles Eric.

4. Fall makeup trend - winged eye liner or dark lips?
I don't really experiment with my eye liner too much but I accidentally bought a darker color than I thought I was getting of Burt's Bees and I was a little worried I wouldn't like it but I really do.
5. Favorite Fall Fragrance?
I am still spritzing my wedding perfume on in the mornings but I need to get something different because I want to save it for more special occasions.

6. Favorite Thanksgiving Food?
My plate will have a heaping pile of stuffing for sure!!!

7. What is Fall weather like where you live?
Well up until this morning it has been very fall like and typical Ohio weather, really warm and sunny one day and the next lower temps and sometimes windy and rainy. Last night it finally snowed here and it was beautiful this morning!!! I grew up living on a hill and now we live in a valley surrounded by woods and when the snow falls it is beautiful! Another awesome thing is when all the snow has melted in town and right off our road it is still gracing itself in our little neck of the woods.

isn't it beautiful?!

8. Most worn sweater or outfit this season?
Aside from what I slip into after work to get comfy for the evening I bought this sweater 3 weeks ago after my cousin Maddy had one and I fell inlove with it. I got it at Cato's and have worn it to work every week and a couple times on the weekends already. I just love the details on the shoulders and the back is longer to cover my behind so I can wear leggings with it.

9. Must have nail polish color?

10.Football games or jumping in leaves?
ummm not me think about that one..........FOOTBALL duh. I am an Ohio State Buckeye!!!

11. Skinny jeans or leggings?
well I am not allowed to wear leggings to work as pants but some days I get away with wearing a pair of dark skinny jeans so the jeans would be what I am wearing more often due to the amount of time at work but most evenings I put on a pair of leggings for around the house .

12. Uggs or Combat boots?
confession: I do not own a pair of either. But if I had to choose it would probably be Uggs, comfort always on my mind.

13. Is pumpkin spice really worth the hype?
If you are Starbucks, no. I would just rather get a fruity drink like a smoothie. But I do love pumpkin spice scents and putting it in my hot chocolate.

14. Favorite fall tv show?
Eric and Jessie - Game On
Who doesn't like watching attractive people in their daily lives? add in planning a wedding and I am on it!

15. Song that gets you in the Holiday spirit?
there isn't really any particular song but I randomly just put my Pandora on Country Christmas

If any of you feel like doing the same feel free to copy the questions and post them on your blog? Or I can email you them without my answers on them.

The original youtube video that I saw with these questions are from Miss Glamorazzi

a lot to be thankful for

Sorry for the last two posts being so heavy.
Well the one before yesterday wasn't so much as yesterdays and honestly when I sat down to write yesterday I did not have intentions of it going where it did and even thought about not posting it but I decided against it because I decided to start blogging to document life and well that was what life has been about here lately. One day I will be able to look back and see how far we have come.

Anyways I told myself this post was not to be so heavy and it is not going to be.
So here is a more joyful post in honor of this week we are celebrating, Thanksgiving.
A handful of people on my facebook have been dedicating their posts each day for the whole month of November to what they are thankful leading up to Thanksgiving so I am going to run with that little piece of inspiration and use it tonight (probably just not as many as twenty five though)
Please note these are not in any specific order...

1. My health. Even though some nights and mornings after running my knees ache and my feet hurt I am thankful that I was able to get out there and run 2+ miles, depending on the time of day and the weather. I can easily go out now and run 4 miles if I plan for it. In the beginning of this journey I struggled being able to run a full mile without taking a little walking break.

2. A hardworking Hubby. Anthony is working two jobs and going to school full time and possibly picking up another little job (skinning deer at the processing place in town) for a little extra cash. He pays most of our bills allowing me to pay a couple credit cards off in the meantime.

3. A secure job.

4. Family. Even though we have considered each other to be a part of the others family since we started dating it is finally official this year! and it is so nice that both sides of our family are welcoming of the other and get along.

5. Furbabies

6. Reliable, running Vehicles.
(not explaining that one right now in an effort to keep this a complaint free post)

7. Natural Resources.
We have a basement full of firewood to heat our house (big thanks to my brother for hooking us up last night) and a freezer full of venison (deer for you non hunting friends).

8. Parents. Both of our parents are always willing to help us out. My Mom is always asking to take me out to lunch and asking if we need any help financially and my Mother-In-Law has been sharing some money with us that was inherited from a family member passing away. It has been a huge blessing.

9. Crafty hobbies.

10. Blogger and IG friends. A couple monthsago Julie Joy from Just The Joy's and I became BFFs! Even though we have met one time in real life through a family member that she was dating at the time while they were visiting my Aunt and Uncle here in Ohio from Michigan. We added each other as friends on facebook but never really talked all that much other than when we were planning our weddings. I actually didn't know she read my blog and I don't think she knew I read hers either. Well after I got married I made some changes to my blog and by changing the name it shut down the old one and lost most of my followers other than the ones I was able to contact to let them know. A couple months ago Julie messaged and admitted to me that she was have stalking withdrawals from my blog and we reconnected via blogland. Ever since then we have been texting and talking back and forth. Little did we know how much we have in common, its is almost creepy at times!!! Like even wearing the same outfits one day without planning it and many other characteristics. Almost every day we text each other just to talk! Most people (non-bloggers) probably think it is weird to be friends with someone on the internet but I have heard about so many people that create amazing relationships through blogging.
If you don't believe me check out Katie and Stephanie's friendship (4th of July Surprise, Taking on Chicago) that bloomed from blogging.
Hopefully one day soon we can finally travel to see each other and spend a weekend together! Hopefully sooner than later.

Anyways that is not close to everything I am thankful for but my brain is not functioning tonight as it was a rough Monday at work and I just want to curl up with my Hubby and furbabies and watch some Monday night tv (really I just fall asleep almost immediately)
I hope you are all having a great week and I hope it is a short one for you too and that you get to spend time with Family or Friends for Thanksgiving.

Simple Things Sunday

Sunday, November 24, 2013

Tonight I am participating in the Simple Things Sunday linkup hosted by Rebecca at Simple As That blog. Its about taking a moment to capture the daily things that make you stop and thank God for all the little things he does, finding joy in the ordinary and realizing the beautifulness in your day to day through the week.

This week was definitely a very trying week for us, financially.
Even though Anthony is working two jobs and I have a secure full time job, our rent is extremely cheap thanks to renting from Family, and we have a freezer full of venison, a fridge looking a little sparse but still enough to get by and a nearly empty wood pile but enough to get us by for the weekend we got a high electric bill followed by a car problems.
We found ourselves really struggling to make ends meet.
This is life right?
this is what marriage is about, right?
We have to learn how to budget better, pay for our own bills, and remember that God will get us through these rough times as long as we remember to trust in him.
My mother in law took us out to eat Friday night with her boyfriend and the neighbor guy, Matt, and his daughter, Gabby, to The Pizza Cottage. It was a nice evening out and we were able to not be focused so much on money and more about spending time together and with Family that we don't get to see too often.

Last night we had a little last minute Pizza Party Thanksgiving get together so we can spend some time with my Uncle Matt and Aunt Lori's family because this year we are traveling out of town for Thanksgiving day and Aunt Lori has to work so they will not be joining us. We were originally going to go out to eat but I volunteered to host it at our house because I felt like we could all be more comfortable and it would be not as expensive. Plus we have not had any family members to our house for a get together since we moved in and I finally felt like the house was presentable enough to have people over. I have been working my behind off for the last 5 months to get this house back into decent shape since it sat for 7 years empty, which was very hard on it.

After everyone left Tank was very tired and worn out from all the attention he got from everyone.
I just love his face and the fact that he is such a cuddler.

Dogs really are so simple. Give them water, food and love and there really is nothing else that they demand of. So much simpler than most human beings. Our boys wait for us all day to get home. It works like clock work every day at 4:30...I am unlock the door and am greeted by wagging tales and sometimes slobbery kisses. They might be crossing their legs because they have to go out but they would rather be loved on before taking care of business.
Our Sunday was also spent with Anthony going hunting early in the morning and then heading to work at 10:00 so my day was spent cuddling on this couch with Tank and going for a little walk outside. Diesel was his usual, shy self and wanted nothing to do with the camera.

Now please excuse me while I go eat left over pizza and salad with my hubby.
I hope you all had an amazing weekend and are looking forward to a shortened week,
thanks to Thanksgiving.

I Am A Runner: Intro

Wednesday, November 20, 2013

(WARNING: before you read this is very lengthy and picture-less)

So I have been looking for the perfect time to officially announce this.
okay there never really is a better time than the present but you see I have this problem with workout routines and commitment.
I always start a new workout type thing but I can never stick to it.
I have been like this for as long as I can remember.

Aside from Swimming in high school I have handled every workout/exercise the same. In elementary school I did volleyball for one season and never picked it back up again, cheerleading another year and never again, I did play basketball from 3rd grade to tryouts Freshman year of High School but I truly loved that sport and once I got to High School it became very political so I didn't want that to ruin my love for the game, but the same thing happened with Track, did it Freshman year and never went back to it. I was a member of the swim team all through High School and absolutely loved it too and still do. However in 2009 when I graduated I realized I was going to need to keep up my working out to maintain my young figure and body so I spent way too much money on Hip Hop Abs. Don't get me wrong Sean T made it so much fun but I only stuck to that one 3 or 4 months and it was nothing consistent either before the dvds started collecting dust. For the next couple years I picked up different spurts of getting workouts in at the local gym that I had and still have a membership to ($10 per month so I have kept in case I decide to go back there or if the winter is too miserable) Last winter I once again splurged on Turbo Fire workout program by Beach Body but after 3 weeks of doing it my knees were killing me. I think it was too much jumping up and down plus I was in the middle of planning the biggest event of my life (My Wedding!) and I just did not make time for it.

Fast forward to the middle of this year...
-worked my ass of on just eating healthy all through March, April and May to keep in shape to fit in my wedding dress

-Married my Best Friend in June

-Honeymooned to SC (bring on bad eating habits and a whole week of pure relaxation which consisted of no working out. I am not going to count beach walks as a form of exercise)

-Returned home to our new home and was thrown into this whole Wifey Duty trying to cook good meals for my Hubby and I (little did I know or think of the fact that baked mac n cheese, tons of spaghetti, and lasagna was not going to do my figure any good)

-NEWSFLASH! I went to the Dr. mid August for a really bad bug that I had had for 3 weeks along with a UTI, get on the scale and I am weighing in at 157 lbs! "What the hell?! is that thing right?! I was just here in May and I weighed 134 lbs" cue tears and total disbelief! I seriously could not believe it(I know my belly had gotten a little more "fluffier" but I didn't really realize how much I had packed on. After recovering from the flu bug and finally feeling back to my normal self I decided that I could not look at myself in the mirror or stand on the scale without cringing at the number.

Bring on September/October...
-started running just for the fun of it, no real goal in mind, just to get out and get some fresh air and hopefully take off some of these pounds. September 3rd I ran 4 miles. This was the farthest distance I had ever ran!!! Needless to say I was pumped, there was a screenshot made of the MapMyRun app and an after many comments & encouraging words from people on facebook I realized "Hey I really enjoyed that run and maybe I can stick to this!"
September was full of weird weather here in Ohio so my workouts were kinda sketchy but I did run at least once or twice a week just for the fresh air and not paying much attention to times or anything.
-October finally came and I decided I was going to set some goals for myself  and actually keep track of how many miles I could log during the month and pay more attention to my times with hopes of making them better. I had no guarantees due to my inconsistencies in the past. But I stuck with it and recorded my runs every evening on the calendar I printed out and put on our fridge.
Yes I am just like a little kid and had to put my work up on display.
Being human I crave encouragement and cheering on just like anyone else and by putting that up Anthony was also able to see what I had accomplished and I started to notice him looking at it every day and he would ask me about my run. And when I decided not to run on some nights he would question why which kept me on track with my goals.
-At the end of last month I realized that I was really starting to love this running thing and the community it has brought to me. There are so many people I see every week at the trail that we are starting to see each other and wave and sometimes even talk in the parking lot in passing. On top of that I started looking for other bloggers and instagrammers that are runners too and there are so many out there that what to share their stories too. Sharing my story is exactly why I blog and now that I have something awesome to share aside from my random life happening posts or crafty projects that I get myself into.
- I put off posting too much about my new lifestyle because I was so unsure as to if I would stick to it but I have and now it is finally time...

I AM A RUNNER!

Along with this announcement I have something else to share that I haven't shared with too many people...

I AM GOING TO RUN A HALF MARATHON IN SIX MONTHS!

There I said it.
I first told my cousin Maddy about this while we were standing in line for a roller coaster at Hershey Park last month.
She was so encouraging and happy for me.
She is only a freshman in high school and also ran Cross Country this year for the first time so she knows all this running lingo and all the hard work that goes into it. In the last couple weeks I finally started sharing with more family members and friends, then last week I announced it for the first time on my facebook page while participating in those number sharing games about stuff that people don't already know about you.
That was on Wednesday and on Saturday at the bachelorette party my friend Kelcey (who moved to Cincinnati this year) was talking to me about my announcement. I had forgotten that Kelcey and her bf ran a half last year. It was so nice to talk to someone in person that has done it. She said it was the most emotional thing she has done yet in her life and that her and her bf just cried when they were done because they were so proud of eachother and themselves. I cannot wait to have these same emotions on my race day. I am sure it will be great, Anthony said he will be there at the finish line with a big sign and I have no doubt that my proud parents will be there along with some other family members. But really if none of these people are there I am still going to kick ass and be so proud of myself!!!

I cannot wait for race day but until then I will be reading other running blogs, researching workouts, and planning my runs! It seriously has taken over my brain and is pretty much all I can think about.
If you are a runner and have any advice for me on preparing to run my first 5K or a blog suggestion for me to read I would love any of the information, just leave me a comment or shoot me an email!

Weekend Recap: Julie's Last Rodeo

Tuesday, November 19, 2013

On Friday I mentioned how excited I was to celebrate my friend Julie's bachelorette weekend in Columbus with a bunch of girlfriends. We'll we had so much fun and of course come Sunday morning we were paying for it but I would not trade a night out with the girls for anything. Especially considering that the last time we all went out was for my bachelorette party in May...it was long over due. We all met at the hotel, got ready, gave Julie some gifts, took some pictures, and headed to the restaurant for dinner followed by bar hopping in the Arena District. First we hit up the Piano Bar which the night of mine it was packed with brides, like there were seriously 12-15 of us Brides up on the stage dancing and singing to "Heads, shoulders, knees & boobs" but this weekend Julie was the only one there so it was not as much fun so we ditched that place as soon as possible and headed to The Patio and then The Park Street Saloon where there was definitely no pole dancing on the bar.... Well none by me I had already lost my buzz by this point. We stayed out til 1:30 and then got taxis back to the hotel and walked to Wendy's to get food before staying up til 3:30 laying in bed talking.

Sunday we all woke up, cleaned up our mess of a hotel room, packed up the cars and said our good byes. It was a great weekend now there is less than 20 days til we will be celebrating Julie and Clay tying the knot! I cannot wait but I am still waiting on their custom Wedding gift to come from Etsy and I still need to find a dress to wear unless I end up shopping in my closet!

Five on Friday

Friday, November 15, 2013

Hey everyone! I am just posting here a little bit late on Friday night but I really couldn't find the time today to get it in for a couple reasons like one being the fact that last night I went to bed early and I mean early as in 3 a.m. this morning! Anthony headed to bed at 11:00 and I just found myself sitting on the couch with 3 blankets, a glass of Miss Priss wine, and catching up on social networking stuff like finding new people to follow on IG that are runners and reading some blogs that I missed out on this week. Anyways I am joining up with April,  Darci, Christina and Natasha for 5 on Friday.

1. Running. That one verb is something that has been on my mind for the last month (or longer really) I decided that I was going to make myself start doing something more productive and since running was something I could do without any major gym memberships or class fees I decided to take it on. I have a goal to run a 1/2 marathon in the Spring so I started running 4-5 days a week starting the first week of October and here I am still going strong. It seriously is the only thing I think about from the time I wake up to the time I go to bed. I never thought it would be so time consuming but it really is. I find myself mapping out my routes, researching races going on, looking for podcasts to listen to while I am running, finding new bloggers to become friends with (Aunie Sauce, The Lady Okie, and Beauty and the Greek) and saving my pennies for my next pair of running shoes and other fun gear. I am so glad that I finally decided to do this and I am looking forward to the running community that I am joining.
new running clothes I bought at TJ Maxx this week that I ran in today and I love!

2. My husband is a hunter (well I am too but I haven't even gone out yet so nothing to brag about right now) and this week he shot a pheasant on Veteran's Day and a rabbit yesterday so today he put both of them in the crock pot with some seasonings and later we added carrots, potatoes and some cream of mushroom. It took 6 hours to cook today but "Oh my sweet Baby Jesus!" was it delicious!!! There is just something so rewarding about going out, sitting in the cold with your gun or bow, waiting for that wild game to come in, shooting, skinning, cooking and getting to eat it. I love that his love for the sport also feeds the family.

3. Bachelorette festies this weekend are about to kick off for one of my good friends, Julie. I am so excited because the theme is Julie's Last Rodeo so we are taking on Columbus in our boots and flannels. We ended up getting hotel rooms for tomorrow night and it is going to be a blast!
Julie and I the night of my bachelorette festies

4. Christmas. I know it still isn't even Thanksgiving but there is nothing wrong with planning now is there. We are actually going to have a couple trees going on here for Christmas so planning is required. One of the trees is going to be a woodland themed tree and I have been on the lookout for some bottle brush forest animal ornaments to go with my raccoon Mom and Dad got me last year from West Elm. Well I finally found some at Anthropologie and West Elm so tomorrow when Blaire and I go shopping I am definitely going to execute this plan and they will be in my shopping bag when we leave the stores.

5. I am so grateful for our dogs, Diesel and Tank, and their good health records so far. Cancer has struck some of our friends and families pets in the last week and it has not been good. My Aunt and Uncle had to put their golden retriever Katie down last week and my friend Julie just found out their dog has cancer too. I feel so much for them and I can only imagine how big of a mess I am going to be if or when something happens to our babies. The past week Tank has not been feeling good and has not been able to keep food down. I was up last week for a couple hours with him while he was throwing up and I felt so bad that there was nothing to do for him. Luckily he is getting back to his normal self and I am not complaining about the extra cuddle sesh's we have been having.

Well I am on my way to bed because Anthony told me to make sure I didn't  come to bed too early again tonight. I hope you all have a great weekend!

That's a fact Jack!

Thursday, November 14, 2013

Well I finally did. I have only walked by the display of this wine every time I go grocery shopping and I have wanted to get a bottle but refrained because I have been trying real hard to stick to just what we have on our list (this is so hard to do, especially around this time of the year!)
This week though I could not stand it any longer and after a really long, busy week at work I decided it was time to splurge and have a relaxing Thursday night to kick off my weekend.
I am so glad I did because this is delicious!!!
Of course it even has a Duck Dynasty cork in it too!

I am a big Moscato fan and do not like dry wines. I am more of a fruity drink girl.
So Miss Priss was obviously my first pick.
It tastes so good.
Now please keep in mind I am no wine connoisseur or have I even been into drinking wine for that long but I do have taste buds and I do know what I like and you can bet that my next trip to the store will have this on my list just so I can buy it again.

mason jar wine glass (our glasses from our wedding, DIY project of my own but you can find them pretty much anywhere now), Duck Dynasty Miss Priss (WalMart)

This really was the perfect way to kick off my 3 day weekend which is going to consist of shopping in Columbus at Easton with my friend Blaire, followed by celebrating cowgirl style for our friend Julie's Last Rodeo. I am so excited! Let me wear my flannel and cowboy boots for a girls night out on the town and I am game! So it should will be a fabulous weekend.

Favorite Things - November Favorites & Taste of Tuesday

Tuesday, November 5, 2013

I am still just as surprised that it is already November as I was on Friday when it started so I decided to link up with Beauty and The Greek and Lip Gloss and Lunges for my Favorite Things for November right now

Beauty and the Greek

I am also linking up with Let's Get Bananas and Blissfully Miller for Taste of Tuesday
(check out #2 for my recipe that I am linking up with)

1. Vests - I am really loving getting my vests out of the back of our closet and finally getting to wear them. I had a bunch from when I was a senior in High School and then it kind of seemed like they went out of style and no one around here was wearing them. Luckily I didn't get rid of them because now I don't have to go out and buy new ones. But of course I had to order at least one new one and it finally came yesterday...
It also comes in two other colors but I thought this gray would match pretty much everything.
I ended up getting a coupon code and it was cheaper to use that than to use a free shipping code and when I looked on their website today they have already marked it down even more so make sure you snag one before they are all gone if you really like this. The pockets and insides are lined with fleece and they are super warm so I cannot wait to wear it!

2. Pinterest recipes. I have really been trying to expand my horizons in the kitchen and become a better cook. I of course have been resorting to Pinterest and Friday I really broke out of my comfort zone and even mixed other stuff into a recipe I found on Pinterest with other items we already had in our fridge that I was afraid was going to go bad. I went off of this Simple Chili Bean Dip recipe that was on Pinterest but like I said I jazzed up the recipe a little bit...

here is my recipe spin on it...
(please keep in mind I am not chef or food blogger)

The ingredients you need are: cream cheese, chili beans (or any kind of beans you want to use, we love Bush's Grillin Beans - Black Bean Fiesta). Chicken Chunks (I had this little can left over from making Buffalo Chicken Dip this Summer so I used it up. Next time I plan on cooking up some deer meat and using that or you could also buy regular chicken and cook it up and add instead of the can), Salsa (once again I already had this in the fridge and it was already opened and I wanted to use it. Next time I cannot wait to use some homemade salsa), cheddar cheese, sour cream, and tortilla chips, taco shells, or burritos wraps.

- Spread the cream cheese in the bottom of your baking dish.
- Using a layering effect put the beans over the cream cheese, then the chicken (or whatever meat you choose to use). next add some salsa to just cover over the meat, then layer the rest of the beans over the salsa.
- Sprinkle cheese over the top (I ended up using the whole bag and next time I am planning on putting a cheese layer somewhere else in between one of the other layers)

Bake in the over at 350 for 15-18 minutes. I just kept checking on it and making sure it wasn't burning.
You can use it as a chip dip or as a filler in tacos or burritos. I ended up putting my on a wheat soft taco shell and topping it with some sour cream. I made this on Friday and we ended up snacking on it most of the weekend and last night I finished it off. I see it being a recipe that I make again in the near future!!!

3. PicMonkey I used to use a different, very complicated photo editing software but since switching to PicMonkey I have been saving so much time on editing my pictures and they are constantly coming out with new features. Since I found myself using Pic Monkey more often I decided to invest in the premium version since it was dirt cheap compared to other programs. The effects that available with the membership make everything so much fun and I used it to create our Save The Dates, RSVP cards for our wedding, Thank-You cards and even some Christmas Cards last year for a couple different families.

4. Neutrogena 3 Minute Hair Mask I just bought this a couple weeks ago at Wal Greens and I love it! My hair washing routine actually already included another 3 minute procedure once a week that I did so adding this to that was no big deal. I use another shampoo that is a purple color, I cannot remember the name, that keeps my blonde hair blonde and then I just follow up with this and it leaves my hair so soft and it is starting to look much healthier.

Weekend Recap

Monday, November 4, 2013

Weekend recap happening on a Monday?! not on Wednesday?
I know, I know you are probably just as surprised as I am.
The time change must have done me some good.
Anyways back to the weekend...
I had a pretty fun weekend, mixed with going to an auction with Mom & Dad to a bridal shower on Sunday.

Saturday morning my Dad was knocking on my door to wake me up to see if I wanted to go to an auction like 45 minutes away. I hurried up and got dressed because Anthony was working all day and I didn't have anything else planned for the day and I didn't want to sit around doing nothing all day.
We ended up doing some damage at the auction. The old man that had died sure had a handful of hobbies and his barn was full of old wood boxes. I ended up bidding on and winning an old shipping box that had been used to ship a Sargent's belongings home, I am assuming after he had died. I am unsure of what war it was from but I am planning on getting on Ancestry.com and researching some information about him.
Anyways we also bought a whole bunch of box tops and lumber that I am planning on using towards making some signs for people for gifts for weddings and Christmas. I also bought a cool old bench to put on our front porch after I put the wicker furniture away for the year.I will definitely post more pictures tomorrow of my new treasures from the auction. But here is a picture of what the truck looked like when we were loading it all up at the property where the auction was.

Sunday I met my Jonathan and Shalene to take pictures of them at this new place I found down town to take pictures at. The building has vines with beautiful fall leaves cascading all over it and I have been dying to get behind the camera again and take some pictures of someone in front of this building!

How beautiful is that?!!!
and how cute are these two!??

After taking their pictures I hurried home to get a shower and get ready to go meet Blaire so we could do some shopping for Julie's shower gift and hangout before heading to the shower. Please don't judge me but we stopped at Starbucks and I had my first Pumpkin Spiced Latte! It was really good and I am not sure how I have functioned without trying one of these all this time. We ended up going to Chipotle and sharing before heading to the shower.

The shower turned out great and all the decorations were so cute!!!
I am really excited for Julie and Clay's wedding because all the weddings I have attended have been Summer or Fall weddings and theirs is a winter theme and next month!!

All in all I had a great weekend and the time change hasn't really affected me yet. Except for around lunch time today here at work because I always try to push my lunch to as late as I can stand it, which is usually 1:30-2:00. and today at 1:30 I realized it was actually 2:30 to my body and my belly was really growling when I walked into Subway. I definitely just downed a foot long meatball sub.
Hope you all had a great weekend!!

Five on Friday

Friday, November 1, 2013

Its November 1st, Happy November 1st!!
Where has 2013 gone?
To me it feels like it was just January and we were ringing in the new year and so excited because it was our wedding year. Now we are Mr. & Mrs.,, finally getting adjusted to living together and in 2 months 2013 will be over. It can slow down any time now so we can enjoy this holiday season. Today I am linking up with A. Liz Adventures, The Good Life, Carolina Charm and Hello Happiness for 5 on Friday.
1. my blogger friend/we have met once in real life Julie Joy and I had a little twinning moment this week. Okay it might have been more than a little....so we both had pinned this outfit, never talked about it to each other, and neither one of us had posted about shopping and snagging awesome deals on similar skirts to the pin.

Who hasn't seen this pin popping up on their Pinterest feeds? I know almost everyone that I follow on there has showed mutual love for this girls style. So I was on the search for a similar skirt for a little while and I finally bought one on clearance at TJ Maxx for under $10. So this week I ended up wearing this for the second time to work and snapped a pic to share when I got a free chance. Well later in the day I finally had a chance to get on IG and Julie was wearing her same version of this pin...uhhhh TWINNING!!!

2. This week I blew up the big ole boob tube that was in our living room. When we moved in my Grandma's husband said we could just use the tv because we didn't have one of our own and quite frankly the thing weighs a ton and no one wanted to move it or store it somewhere else. Well I was sitting here watching it and like a minute of it being on the screen shrunk down to nothing and made a popping sound. Just like that the ole thing was dunozo! Being two weeks out of from Christmas I am under strict orders from my Mom that we are not to buy our own tv and my Grandma let us borrow one of the little tvs they had at their house... so now we are watching our shows on this lil girl...
I have no clue what to do with all the little electronic stuff we had that sat on top of the old tv so I have been looking at some Ana-White plans in hopes of building one that matches our rustic style that we have going on. As for our eyes and this little tube for the next two months we will probably just be found sitting on the floor, indian style like little 6 year olds watching our favorite shows. "Good things come to those whose wait" I just keep telling myself that.

3. Today for a little snack I made this Simple Chili Bean Dip that I found on Pinterest but put my own little spin on it and it was so good! This is the first time I have really broken out of my comfort zone in the kitchen and tried to make something new and also completely with just stuff I started pulling out of our fridge. I will post more about it later this week.

4. I am loving having a place to put all of our blankets and I love the story behind how our trunk got here. Every time I walk in our living room it puts a smile on my face.

5. I have been trying to get back into a more fitness oriented lifestyle. The whole month of October I went running 4-5 days out of this week and this week I started some basic yoga with an app on my phone. I even found a really relaxing place right off the trail where I run at the college to do the yoga. It is so calm and peaceful..
